Best Trade:
New York- The Knicks got their guy and Chauncey Billups in exchange for some good young players. If nothing else, this makes the East more interesting, and I am one of those that thinks this combination could be nasty once Carmelo and A'mare get synced up. Billups should not be underrated in this deal either. He is a consistent performer in the playoffs, and in my opinion the biggest reason the Pistons don't even look like half the team they used to be.
Worst Trade:
Cleveland- Baron Davis? That's your franchise building move. Come on Gilbert, that's why Lebron left you. Maybe if you had gotten the guy when you still had a franchise player, but sending Mo Williams and some other guy to LA for an over the hill, inconsistent point guard and a couple of future conditional picks does not make you better.
Could Turn out to be a great trade if Kendrick Perkins stays healthy:
OKC Thunder- This is my favorite team right now mostly because Durant is the anti-Lebron. If Perkins gets healthy and stays healthy, this team is dangerous come playoff time. If not, losing the third scoring option in Jeff Green makes this team competitive at best. We'll see.
Best Move by a Russian who never watched basketball until he owned the Nets:
New Jersey- Deron Williams makes Brooks Lopez twice as good once they get on the same page, and it pisses New York off, which is all the Russian really wanted to do anyway. To paraphrase part owner Jay-Z, "I got 99 problems but a point guard ain't one." Unless Williams acts like the same a-hole who ran off one of the best NBA coaches to never win a championship. As a mid nineties Jazz fan, this trade is great, because I can finally dislike Williams as much as I want. Sorry Jay-Z, your team just became my second least favorite team in the league.
